NWDC Events for Spring 2008: MIDSUMMER DRIVE 22 June Due to forecast 65 mph gales and heavy rain (see BBC weather) the Midsummer's Day Drive was abandoned. Ah well. See you at the Show, I hope. Drives and active events are for paid-up members only unless otherwise indicated (eg where we are guests of another organisation). Please make sure your 3rd party insurance is up-to-date. All drivers taking part must have passed their safety checks. Sunday 6th July – Summer Show, Tebay. - This is now a Blue Chip Festival of Champions Qualifier, so come and have a go, the first four in each class qualify! See the schedule for more details. And please note this year Fancy Dress doesn't have to be with a carriage, just with an equine friend! Come and have some fun. Entries close on 1st July. Entry form and schedule available here. Non-Members welcome, along with spectators and helpers! Take M6 to Tebay (J38) and at the roundabout at the end of the slip road turn for Tebay and Kendal. Go up the hill, and at the top do not follow the road through Tebay itself but turn left by the bus shelter and recreation ground along the old Gaisgill Road. (Not signed but that's its name if you need to ask.) Follow road for almost 1 mile and the show field is on the left opposite The Howe Barn. Sunday 28th September – Le Trec Event, Dalemain. Come and try
something new, competitive but non-stressful. Contact Margaret on 01768
898712 for details and times. There will be more information in the next
newsletter closer to the time. Subs are due on 1st January. We send out a reminder and subs form with the January Newsletter but if your details are unchanged, you can just send a cheque with name and address to Ann. £20 for drivers and £10 for non-drivers. Please make sure your 3rd party insurance is up-to-date, as checks will be made throughout the season. Non members are not covered by our insurance. Please make sure you let organisers know if you're planning to attend a drive or event. Drivers must be NWDC members and must have passed their safety checks. Happy and safe driving Reminder With insurance claims becoming increasingly popular throughout today's society the NWDC recommends that all of our members take out third party insurance. You may not join a drive or compete at an event with us without such insurance. Make sure it covers the animal you will be driving. A basic safety test is required for new driving members. Non members are not covered by our group insurance so we are going to have to say that only members may drive with us. NOTE - To avoid possible disappointment, we are going to try to avoid safety-testing at events or drives. Please contact Jen to arrange a test beforehand. |
